Painless PR Step #2

Kathy Moore, AC-S, Public Relations Officer

If you want a fast, easy and interesting way to get the word out about your club, post free classified ads, stories and blogs on the internet. Here are just a few of the places you can do it. The list is literally endless. (Be sure to link to your club website!)

www.freebieclassifieds.com Find places to post free classifieds. Check out the one I listed for District 55 at http://www.freebieclassifieds.com/classinfo.html?ad=33+training. The first person to respond and tell me who the new Texan is in the photo wins a $5.00 gift certificate for the TI store.

http://www.newspapers-usa.com/detail.php/state/TX lists all the newspapers in the country, this page is specifically for Texas newspapers.

http://www.switchboard.com has listings for all types of businesses including newspapers, television stations, radio stations. You can search by city, zip code or category.

http://adulted.about.com/b/a/255269.htm Here is a great way to get traffic to your club website and to spread the Toastmasters word. About.com is a very high volume website. I posted an article there about Highly Sensitive People (dealing with anxiety) six years ago, and people still e-mail me regularly. In this link, Caroleen Whiteley tells how she joined Toronto Business Toastmasters to improve her public speaking skills... and found herself learning much more than how to deliver a speech.

http://www.ontheradio.net/states/texas.aspx Lists all radio stations in Texas and their websites. If you click on the city, you'll get a listing of the stations in and around that city. For example, clicking on the San Antonio next to KTSA yields: Floresville, San Marcos, Lytle, New Braunfels, Comfort, Jourdanton, Schertz, Helotes and more. It may be easier to get the word out in a small town, rather than a metropolis.

When I clicked on the Info section of the KQXT website, I got this information.
