May

Paula Tunison

Most of us associate May with flowers and the start of summer vacation. In Toastmasters, May is a month of change, after all, this is when we elect new club officers and new district officers. In addition to choosing our leaders for the next year, we will also be voting on changes to the club/area/division alignment and changes to the district procedures. The district procedure changes will affect how we spend the district’s (a.k.a. the members’) money in the future.

It’s simple to make sure your club’s voice is heard. The District Council meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday May 31st at the Omni Colonnade in San Antonio. All club presidents and vice-president education have a vote for your club. If you cannot attend you can give your proxy, your vote, to any member of your club. All club presidents, vice-presidents education, and proxy holders must check-in with the credentials desk to pick-up your ballot. You can pick-up your ballot Friday 4-7 p.m. or Saturday 8-9:30 a.m. The council meeting is free but while you’re there, consider staying for an educational session, the awards luncheon, or the International Speech Contest.

For a copy of the district proxy please go to the district website:

Proxy

Your club also has a vote at the regional and international business meetings. All club presidents, should have received your club proxies from Toastmasters International in March. If you have not already, please sign the proxies and send them to the address printed on the back. Or, you can bring them to the district conference. There will be a box on the registration desk where you can deposit them.

Make sure your voice is heard! Send you club’s regional and international proxies to the district governor. Attend the District Council meeting and cast your club’s vote!
