Fellow Toastmasters,

Well here we are, approaching the end of another Toastmaster year for District 55. What a fabulous year it has been! The challenge was placed before you at the beginning of the year to demonstrate the District 55 theme for this year: District 55 Home of Membership Excellence. As of June 1, thanks to your efforts, District 55 achieved all of the critical elements to be recognized as a Distinguished District. Many of you also took up the challenge of our International President Jana Barnhill and demonstrated you had the Courage to Conquer your fears and roadblocks, and achieved your educational and leadership goals.

Here are the numbers for the district as of June 12:

Total Competent Communicators achieved 217

Advance Communicators achieved 100

Competent Leaders 62

Advanced Leaders 46

Distinguished Toastmasters 19

Distinguished Clubs 42

Distinguished Areas 14

Distinguished Divisions 2

The month is not over yet and I know these numbers will increase across the board as each of you continues to pursue excellence. The pursuit of excellence however should not end on June 30. We each have so much more to learn and grow as communicators, speakers and leaders. Let us finish the year strong, and charge into the new Toastmaster year on July 1 with even higher goals.

District Governor Elect Margaret A. Cathey, DTM has chosen Mentor, Guide Listen as her theme for next year. She has an incredible team of district leaders and staff working with her and they have been challenged to make this their mantra and help your club and you the member achieve your goals.
