What is Toastmasters?

At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment.

Most people say they joined Toastmasters because they want to feel more secure when speaking in public - even before a small group. For example, in a departmental meeting, an employee may have real knowledge about the job, but lack the ability to communicate his or her ideas to other members of the group.

Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your co-workers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you are—to become better communicators.

In the warm, friendly atmosphere of a Toastmasters club, members overcome their nerves, gain confidence, and even discover the ability to motivate those around them.

Are you:

You can look forward to the pleasure, satisfaction and stimulation you will gain from other people like yourself — part of the lively and interesting interaction with other members of a Toastmasters club.

Do you want to join?

Look for a club near you. Some clubs are open, meaning anyone can join, these clubs will say "open to all" in their listing. Other clubs are closed, normally this means that they are sponsored by an organization or corporation and only members of that group may join, these clubs will say "Membership eligibility criteria required - Contact club" in their listing. Some clubs meet on weekdays, others on weekends. Some meet in the morning, some during lunch, others at night. Find the one that best suits your schedule and then contact them. They will be glad to have you as a guest at upcoming meetings!
